VIA, VERITAS, VITA

I am the Way!—Thou said'st: the Way
By which my laggard feet must run,
Ford rivers, climb the mountains, yea:
What matters so the road be won!
‘I am the Truth.’ By which I live;
Hardness made easy, dark things plain.
Steadfast to Thee, not fugitive,
Thou guidest me in the night and rain.
‘I am the Life.’ Beyond Death's wall
I shall lay hold of Life and taste
Such floods of Being that not all
Eternity runs out, lays waste.
My Way! Although the shards be rough—
My Truth! Unchanging, brightening still.
My Life! O soul, drink deep enough!
Feed full upon some heavenly hill!
