AUTHORIZATION TO REQUEST EMPLOYMENT OF SPECIAL COUNSEL TO REPRESENT
WILLIS SPAULDING

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that a request be made to the Attorney General of Virginia to authorize the employment of special counsel to represent Willis Spaulding, an employee of the Law School, to defend Mr. Spaulding in an action pending in the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia; and

  • RESOLVED FURTHER that Mr. Spaulding's expenses, including attorney's fees, incurred in defending such action be paid by the University in advance of the final disposition of such action, upon receipt by the University of an undertaking by Mr. Spaulding to repay such amount unless it shall ultimately be determined that he is entitled to be indemnified by the University as authorized by Section 13.1-205.1 of the Code of Virginia.
