LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  • The following resolution was adopted:
    RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Gib Akin, Assistant Professor of Commerce, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to serve as Visiting Professor at the Pepperdine University, Malibu, California.
  • Mr. S. Michael Bernhard, Assistant Professor, General Faculty, Alderman Library, for one month, effective July 1, 1978, to teach during the summer session at the Graduate School of Library Science, University of Illinois.

  • Mr. Michael A. Hoffman, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, for the period January 16, 1978, through April 30, 1978, to conduct archaeological research in Egypt.
  • Mr. Paul D. Kovacs, Assistant Professor of Classics, for one semester, effective January 16, 1979, to carry out research while his wife teaches at Union Theological Seminary, New York.
  • Mr. James A. McPherson, Associate Professor of English, one-half time, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, for the purpose of research and writing.
  • Mr. Edgar O. Olsen, Associate Professor of Economics, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to serve as Visiting Scholar at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Mr. Robert S. Wood, Associate Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to serve as Visiting Professor of Strategy, Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.
