Now we leuen þe kyng and of Ioseph carpen;
“A! lord!” quaþ Ioseph “how may þis limpe
Of þis king Eualak þat con not vnderstonde?

And wustest daniel in þe put þat he was inne I-worpe
Among þe leones feole þat he no scaþe lauȝte:
And for-ȝaf þe Maudeleyn mekelyche hire sunnes:
And siþen seidest to me mi preyere scholde sitte;
þou heiȝtest holichurche to haunsen hire strengþe,
to hiȝen þi godhed hit helpes nout elles;
Nou, gloriouse kyng graunte me mi boone.”
