Placement Library Provides
Publications And Brochures

The Placement Career Library is
designed to make available
pertinent resources relating to
career choice and planning,
employer literature, graduate and
professional study, graduate
financial aid, manpower trends and
other placement related
information.

The Career Library is located in
the Office of Placement, 5 Minor
Hall.

Descriptive career pamphlets
covering more than 750 different
occupational areas are available.
Brochures and pamphlets tell what
positions various fields offer and
describe entry level positions. They
describe job requirements, major
course of studies recommended and
personal qualifications. Future
supply and demand specifications
are frequently indicated for many
occupations.

Graduate study directories,
financial aid lists and graduate and
professional school catalogues from
more than 750 major universities
are available. Separate sections are
classified for business, dentistry
law and medicine.

Publications from various
federal, state and local governments
give insight into these employers
and their needs. The Bureau of
Labor Statistics provides relevant
up-to-date business and labor
reports which contain reliable data
concerning supply and demand
needs for numerous professions.
These reports along with the
publication College Educated
Workers, 1968-1980
are available in
the placement library. Helpful also
are the Federal Career Directories
for each Civil Service region in the
United States.

A comprehensive collection of
information about alternative and
social action careers, innovative and
free school teaching opportunities,
and lists of resource contacts has
been developed. Among the more
informative publications are the:
New Schools Exchange Newsletter,
Vocations for Social Change. This
Magazine is About Schools,
and Big
Rock Candy Mountain.

"Bulletins of information"
containing registration materials,
applications for individual tests and

practice exercises are available in
the Office of Placement, or at other
appropriate offices on the Grounds.

For prospective teachers the
Placement Library maintains an
up-to-date file of most state
educational directories, providing
detailed information about the
various state public school systems.
In addition, a collection of
materials about foreign teaching
opportunities and other specialized
teacher information is maintained
in the Office of Placement.

The Placement Career Library
exists for the specific purpose of
helping the students. It contains
much pertinent and relevant
information. If you are interested,
the Placement Career Library is
open Monday through Friday, 8
a.m. to 5 p.m. in 5 Minor Hall.
