Experience Speaks

But Frank Homer said, "speaking
with three years of experience,
I can see nothing wrong
with increasing the number of
people on Council. It is imperative
that we do so."

Mr. Jones pointed out that "If
you increase the size of Council
and lower the age limits you
can get some sort of continuity
from year to year with Councilmen
being reelected for two or
even three years."

A straw vote was taken in
the Committee and it was a close
vote with eight for and seven
against enlarging the Council.

On the other major provision
of the new constitution, that of
popular election of the officers
a straw vote was taken with ten
voting for popular election and
four against.
