EPIGRAM XXXIV.
[One Native of a distant coast]
QUÆRE PEREGRINAM.
One Native of a distant coast,
Her Sex's, and her Country's boast,
Th' applauding World had seen:
Her Britain's Genius knew design'd,
The friend, and favourite of Mankind;
And claim'd her for a Queen!
Her Sex's, and her Country's boast,
Th' applauding World had seen:
Her Britain's Genius knew design'd,
The friend, and favourite of Mankind;
And claim'd her for a Queen!
Whate'er distinctions we may raise,
'Twixt foreign and domestic praise,
In this we all concur:
Wherever born, 'tis Worth alone,
Makes Her so fit for such a Throne,
And such a Throne for Her.
'Twixt foreign and domestic praise,
In this we all concur:
Wherever born, 'tis Worth alone,
Makes Her so fit for such a Throne,
And such a Throne for Her.
