SCOFIELD, Cyrus Ingerson (1843-1921):
American lawyer and PASTOR who edited the influential Scofield Reference Bible which he published in 1909 with the financial assistance of prominent businessmen. His "Bible" became the standard text of American FUNDAMENTALISM where it helped promote DISPENSATIONALISM, it also strongly influenced the PLYMOUTH BRETHREN movement.
