Poul loked forþur þen
And sauȝ ful mony men and wymmen;
Wormes and serpentes on hem seeten,
Euer as houndes þei on hem freeten.
So mony soules þer weore in hold,
Vehon on oþur, as schep in fold.
Hit was also dep to nemene
As from þe eorþe vp to heuene.
Of heore serwyng was muche wondur,
Þei made a noyse as hit weore þundur.
