Israel in Egypt | ||
Intensest joy broke forth. The Spirits all
Sent up their voices till the concave rang;
Full freedom feeling; light of Heaven once more
Beholding: yet, to God's All Merciful Love,
Nothing attributing; but Nature—Fate—
Or their own growing strength, and excellence,
The cause misdeeming. Straightway gathering then,—
Ere through the solid darkness they should speed
Amid the suns and systems,—lofty words,
By Satan, and the Spirits next in power,
O'er all the assembly rolled; as, in a flood,
Earth's o'ergorged rivers thunder o'er its vales.
Sent up their voices till the concave rang;
Full freedom feeling; light of Heaven once more
Beholding: yet, to God's All Merciful Love,
Nothing attributing; but Nature—Fate—
Or their own growing strength, and excellence,
8
Ere through the solid darkness they should speed
Amid the suns and systems,—lofty words,
By Satan, and the Spirits next in power,
O'er all the assembly rolled; as, in a flood,
Earth's o'ergorged rivers thunder o'er its vales.
