Six tedious months young Damon sigh'd,—
In vain his amorous tale;
He su'd—but Chloe still deny'd—
No efforts cou'd prevail!
At length he try'd the pow'r of gold,—
She soon to chide forgot;
The fair-one was no longer cold,
But prov'd, alas!—too hot!
