Somtyme prayer/vigils/and abstinēce
Whylom in labours/& wordly occupacion
The tyme to dispēd/in vertuous excellēce
And as my auctour gyueth intellygence
This lady had wrought/with great besynesse
A clew of yarne in auoyding ydelnesse

Whiche clew Radegunde hange forthe in the son

And anone theyr came a myghty great ratton
Aprochyng the yarne to gnawe it/and destry
But as soone as she touched the clewe certenly
