Examination
Clear Up

There has been considerable
misunderstanding lately concerning
a professor's right to
request that all examination
paper be returned. Some students
have mistakenly assumed
that the keeping of an examination
in defiance of a professor's
wish is permissible. The situation
has been further confused
by the fact that some professors
are more insistent than others
that all exams be returned.

In order to clear up the
existing confusion the Honor
Committee is reiterating at this
time that any professor has the
right to require the return of all
exam papers if he so desires;
failure to comply with such a
request would be deemed a dishonorable
action. However, the
Committee at the same time is
requesting that faculty members
be explicit when requiring students
to return examinations. If
the professor intends that no
tests be kept he should make his
wishes unmistakably clear to the
students.
