The following resolution was adopted:
- RESOLVED that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
- Mr. Arnold P. Aronson, Associate Professor of Drama, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, for research.
- Ms. Berniel B. Bjorklund, Assistant Professor of German, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, to accept a Columbia Society of Fellows Fellowship for teaching and research at Columbia University.
- Mr. William Breit, Professor of Economics, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, for educational leave of Trinity University.
- Mr. James N. Demas, Associate Professor of Chemistry, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, for research at Los Alamos.
- Ms. Cora Diamond, Professor of Philosophy, for one semester, effective January 16, 1984, for completion of book and research.
- Mr. Robert Dolan, Professor of Environmental Sciences, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, to serve as a Liaison Scientist with the Office of Naval Research in London.
- Ms. M. Jamie Ferreira, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, for the period September 1, 1983 through June 30, 1984, to accept a Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies.
- Mr. Paul E. Gold, Professor of Psychology, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, for research.
- Mr. Leslie E. Grayson, Professor of Business Administration, The Darden School, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, for research.
- Mr. David P. Harrington, Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics, School of Engineering and Applied Science, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, for research.
- Mr. Ira W. Herbst, Professor of Mathematics, for one semester, effective September 1, 1983, for educational leave.
- Mr. P. Jeffrey Hopkins, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, to accept a Visiting Professorship at the University of British Columbia.
- Mr. Paul W. Humphreys, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, for completion of book and research.
- Mr. Stephen Innes, Associate Professor of History, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, to pursue research.
- Mr. James R. Kistner, Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, for the period May 1, 1983 through June 30, 1983, to perform medical services for a period of religious vocation.
- Mr. Paul D. Kovacs, Associate Professor of Classics, for one semester, effective January 16, 1984, to finish some research projects.
