Epigr. 37. De Gualtero Deurox in expeditione gallica cæso

T'honour and blisse Deurox thou didst aspyre,
By worthy means, though fortune not thy friend
Tooke from thy ioyes, what vertue did desire,
To giue thy life: but paide thee in thine ende.
Onely at this thy country doth repine,
That her reioycing is not ioynde with thine.
