THE HAPPY HOUR TO MEET.
[_]

DUET.

Waiting evening's closing,
Marking the vesper chime,
Love, his pinions folding,
Watches the flight of Time.
Counting the hours by the bells so sweet,
And blessing the happy hour to meet.
When the sun is sinking
Over the lady's bower,
And the longer shadow
Tells of the short'ning hour,
Breezes then whisper thro' flowrets sweet,
“Hasten—for oh! 'tis the hour to meet!”
