• The following resolution was adopted:
  RESOLVED that the actions relating to chairholders be and they are hereby approved as shown below:

• (a) Election of Chairholders

• Mr. Carl T. Herakovich as Henry L. Kinnier Professor of Civil Engineering, effective July 1, 1990.
• Mr. Michael F. Holt as Langbourne M. Williams Professor of American History, effective September 1, 1990.
• Mr. George A. Rutherglen as John Allan Love Professor of Law, effective September 1, 1990.

• (b) Leave of Absence of Chairholders

• Ms. Martha A. Derthick, Julia Allen Cooper Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for the period September 1, 1990 through January 15, 1991, without pay, to accept a teaching assignment at Harvard University.
• Mr. Aram Vartanian, William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of French Literature, for the period September 1, 1990 through May 31, 1991, with partial pay, to do research.
