THE PHANTOM-FLOWER.

The alchemist of old, with wizard power,
From the pure ashes of Love's darling flower,
Could recreate it in ethereal guise,
And bid a shadowy spirit-rose arise.
So from the priceless ashes of your notes,
The flower-like soul, that fill'd them, upward floats,
And while the words impassion'd slow consume,
I watch my rose, my airy angel, bloom!
