Counseling Center

The majority of students who
come to the Student Counseling
Center seek assistance-in planning
and clarifying their educational or
career goals. A sound educational
choice (such as the selection of a
major or college) or career decision
should include the consideration
and thoughtful evaluation of
factors that would effect potential
success and satisfaction with your
major or career. Factors explored
with a vocational counselor include
understanding your personal and
vocational interests, values and
aspirations, strengths and
weaknesses, and personality traits
and their relationship to making a
good decision.

To assist you in clarifying your
educational and career interest
patterns, the Student Counseling
Center provides a variety of career
interest inventories, life value and
goal inventories, and personality
inventories that can provide helpful
insight to better understanding
yourself. Your discussions with a
vocational psychologist at the
Counseling Center include the use
of a variety of types of results.
When appropriate, the psychologist
may be able to help you clarify the
circumstances that may be
impeding your attempts to identify
a major or career field.
