Bus Barricade

The police again surrounded the White
House with a barricade of empty buses as they
did in the November Moratorium march, but
police action was controlled as they helped
demonstrators whenever possible with
directions and advice.

Violence did break out later Saturday night,
after most of the demonstrators had left. The
latest reported incident was the detonation of
an explosive charge at the National Guard
headquarters on Massachusetts Avenue. The
explosion shattered 70 windows, damaged the
front columns in front and blew out two
windows in a nearby restaurant. No injuries
were reported, however.

The latest report at press time said that a
total of 346 persons had been arrested, not
counting juveniles, and that those arrested were
charged with disorderly conduct.
