Loss Of Life
Chester Titus, director of
University Housing, noted in a letter
to landlords in off-grounds housing
that the recent loss of life by
college students in fires in the
United States was an indication for
the need of safety standards in the
form of sprinkler systems for
student housing.
The second part of the motion
concerning the ejection of students
from their off-grounds housing if
their landlord refused to sign an
improved version of the routine
application card sent out by the
Housing Office this summer, was
also rescinded. A letter was sent to
all students whose landlords had
neglected to return the renewal
forms informing them that they
would have to leave their present
dwellings after the first semester of
this school year without regard to
lease obligations or availability of
other housing.
