LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  • The following resolution was adopted:
    RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Malcolm Bell, III, Assistant Professor of Art History, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, to continue work on a project concerning the study of the Hellenistic necropolis, Kentoripa, Sicily.
  • Mr. Michael J. Graetz, Associate Professor of Law, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to accept a visiting position at the University of Southern California.
  • Mrs. Deborah A. Gutschera, Assistant Professor of English, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to devote full time to research.
  • Mr. J. A. C. Hetherington, Professor of Law, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, to pursue individual research.
  • Mr. Michael F. Holt, Associate Professor of History, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to carry out research.
  • Mr. David H. Miles, Associate Professor of German, for one year, effective June 1, 1976, to accept a Guggenheim Fellowship.
  • Miss Marion E. Roberts, Associate Professor of Art, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, to complete work on a book concerning the Biblical reliefs on the facade of Wells Cathedral.
  • Mr. Ronald F. Swanson, Assistant Professor of Biology, for one semester, effective January 16, 1976, at his request to seek another position.
  • Dr. Donald E. Sweet, Associate Professor of Pathology, for the period March 7, 1976, through June 30, 1977, to join the staff of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.
  • Mr. William S. Weedon, University Professor of Philosophy, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, to allow for further research in the art and architecture of the Far East.

  • Mr. Calvin Woodard, Doherty Professor of Law, for one semester, effective January 16, 1977, to accept a visiting position at Stanford University Law School.
  • Mr. John J. Yiannias, Associate Professor of Art, for one semester, effective January 16, 1977, to study the wall paintings in the refectories of Mount Athos, Greece.
