OH! VIRTUE KNOWS NO HOPELESS GRIEF.
I
Oh! virtue knows no hopeless grief,'Tis sin that must despair;
The true believer finds relief
In solitary pray'r;
And faith will take her holy flight,
To realms beyond the tomb;
They will not madly mourn the blight,
Who knows how frail the bloom.

Then say not to a hopeless lotWe're fetter'd from our birth,
It would be hopeless, had we not
A hope beyond the earth:
The infidel may well despond,
When sorrow's tear he sheds,
His bosom knows no hope beyond
The dust on which he treads.
