ACTIONS RELATING TO CHAIRHOLDERS
The following resolution was adopted:
- RESOLVED that the following persons be and they are hereby elected to the named chairs as shown below:
- Mr. Gary D. Allinson as Ellen Bayard Weedon Professor of East Asian Studies, effective September 1, 1983.
- Mr. Juan Cano-Ballesta as Commonwealth Professor of Spanish, effective September 1, 1983.
- Dr. James David Kitchin, III, as Robert C. Taylor Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, effective July 1, 1983.
- Dr. S. James Taylor as Gordon Thomas Whyburn Professor of Mathematics, effective September 1, 1983.
- Dr. Munsey S. Wheby as Andrew D. Hart Professor of Internal Medicine, effective July 1, 1983.
- (b) Leaves of Absence of Chairholders
- Mr. Verdel A. Kolve, Commonwealth Professor of English, for one semester, effective January 16, 1984, to accept a Senior Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, National Gallery of Art.
- Mr. Herbert Stein, A. Willis Robertson Professor of Economics, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, to be on leave at the American Enterprise Institute.
- Mr. Thomas L. Wheelen, Ralph A. Beeton Professor of Free Enterprise, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1983, to teach business policy and courses at the University of South Florida.
- (c) Retirement of Chairholder
- Mr. Peter H. Taylor, Henry Hoyns Professor of Creative Writing, effective May 31, 1983. Mr. Taylor has been a member of the faculty since September 19, 1967.
