“Talitha Cumi”

Eyes wet and hearts bleeding,
We laid her to rest—
Her little hands, pleading
The cross, on her breast.
Tho' bitter our weeping,
No murmur we made;
We knew in whose keeping
Our darling was laid.
We trusted, heart-broken;
Tear-blinded, we smiled;
And carved for a token
“Talitha”—our child.
