The later poems of John Clare | ||
[Where are the citys Sodom & Gomorrah]
Where are the citys Sodom & GomorrahThe marble pallaces upon the plain
Citys to day & a dead sea tomorrow
& what they was they ne'er will be again
That earth is lost & all its city slain
By the oerwhelming waves entombed & gone
Search for its ruins now is void & vain
& but one witness saw that ruin done—
The ever burning bright eternal Sun
