MADRIGALL 23.

[Phoebus, rich father of eternall light]

Phoebus, rich father of eternall light,
And in his hand a wreath of Heliochrise
He brought, to bewtifie those tresses:
Whose trayne, whose softnesse, and whose glosse more bright
Apolloes lockes did ouerprise:
Thus with this gyrland, whiles her browes he blesses,
The golden shadow, with his tincture
Colour'd her lockes, I guilded with the cyncture.
