Euphrenia or the Test of Love | ||
VIII.
Here too they parted, sad and loath,Until the morrow's night
With the loved object once again
Should bless their raptured sight.
How changed the scene! the murm'ring breeze
Seemed sadly to complain;
The dewy ev'ning wept as if
It shared their mutual pain;
The lengthened kiss, the pressure fond,
The oft repeated word,
Proved that the measured hints of time
No longer were unheard;
And, after parting, yet again
They turned with eager pace,
As if by some attraction drawn
To join in close embrace.
