I graunt my barcke, ores, men, too slowe, weake, pale,
of standinge within kenn of Chaucers quill,
Howbeet, least Elde mote robb his Squiers loste tale
neere point of reskewe, pittye steeres my keel,
Lamentinge with the muses, suche a losse,
as richer peece near Poetes head begunn.
Now sithe no allegorie blabbs owne glosse,
ende, meanlie ended, bett'r is, then vndon.
