CHANGES OF TITLE IN SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND APPLIED SCIENCE

The President announced that, effective 1 July 1964, the name of the Division of English in
the School of Engineering and Applied Science will be changed to the Division of Humanities. The
President also announced that, effective 1 July 1964, the name of the Division of Mathematics in
the School of Engineering and Applied Science will be changed to the Department of Applied Mathematics
and Computer Science.

In order that the necessary changes may be made in the titles of the faculty members affected,
the following resolution was adopted:

RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia
that the following changes of title be and they are hereby made:

Mr. Melvin W. Aylor, from Associate Professor of Mathematics, to Associate Professor of Applied
Mathematics, effective 1 September 1964.

Mr. Omer A. Gianniny, Jr., from Assistant Professor of English, to Assistant Professor of
Humanities, for three years, effective 1 September 1964.

Mr. John L. Longley, from Associate Professor of English, to Associate Professor of Humanities,
effective 1 September 1964.

Mr. Wendell E. Malbon, from Associate Professor of Mathematics, to Associate Professor of
Applied Mathematics, effective 1 September 1964.

Mr. Walter B. Moore, III, from Assistant Professor of English, to Assistant Professor of
Humanities, for three years, effective 1 September 1964.

Mr. Robert H. Owens, from Professor of Applied Mathematics, to Professor of Applied Mathematics
and Computer Science, effective 1 September 1964.

Mr. Philip H. Ryan, from Associate Professor of Mathematics, to Associate Professor of Applied
Mathematics, effective 1 September 1964.

Mr. Joseph L. Vaughan, from Professor of English, to Professor of Humanities, effective 1 September
1964.
