WILLIAM T. YOUNGER

William T. Younger was born January 4th, 1853,
in Craig County, Virginia. In 1872 he removed to
Salem, where he has lived continuously since. In
1883 he was elected to the Town Council, and in
1886 was elected Mayor, which position he held continuously
and uninterruptedly for twenty years,
having resigned in 1906. He was one of the organizers
of the Salem Loan and Trust Company in 1890
and was its first Vice President. In April, 1892, he
was elected President of the institution and has continued
ever since to conduct the affairs of the institution,
a more complete notice of which appears
elsewhere in this work.
