THE OPEN AIR

As I pass,
Drawing up the hill from Mass,
Lo, I gather
Leaves of plumèd yarrow,
And rose-bindweed in a braid
For one drooping in the shade,
Where the sweet flowers are not made;
And the butterfly
Never, never thrilleth by.
