MARCION (85-160):
Early CHRISTIAN HERETIC and founder of the MARCIONITE CHURCH who rejected the HEBREW BIBLE and taught, on the basis of the THEOLOGY of PAUL, that only some portions of the NEW TESTAMENT were authentic. He emphasized the importance of LOVE and rejected all legalism. He claimed that the DEMIURGE created humans whom he also cursed through the law, but the GOD of LOVE had sent JESUS to overcome the law and save mankind.
