To the Learned and ingenious Gentleman, M. L. the Authour.

Sir (tho' unto my grief) I must confess,
I know you not so much as by the Face,
Yet by your other Writtings which I saw,
And by the Portraicture which here you draw,
Both of your Self and Patron, not to smother
My thoughts, you both are happy, each in other.
So let the Patron's love and Poet's be
Bounded with nothing but eternitie.
