[Hail Golden Lamp of the fair Queen of Love]

Hail Golden Lamp of the fair Queen of Love,
Vesper the brightest of the Stars above;
As Phœbe's Lustre does your Rays outshine,
Other Nocturnal Lights must yield to thine.
The Moon's gone down; conduct me o'er the Plain,
Safe to the Cottage of a Shepherd Swain.
No bad Intentions this my Journey move,
To Rob or Steal; but I'm a Slave to Love.
Hail much lov'd Star, and your Assistance lend;
Lovers in ev'ry Place should find a Friend.
