This is a scale drawing of the proposed medical and receiving center, shown beside the Rotunda which serves as a size comparison. The prison site is centrally located within the bowl-shaped valley which is Green Springs. Residents claim that the structure would be visible from at least two miles away. The design calls for a hexagonal prison, 600 feet in diameter with a sixty-foot guard tower and a 10-foot barbed wire mesh fence. The prison would inevitably draw motels, service stations and drive-in restaurants to serve visitors to the penal institution; and 70,000 gallons of sewage would be dumped daily into neighboring streams. Many Green Springs property owners might feel compelled to sell out and move away.
