18. Of the covetous, and perverse inclination of the greatest part of Mankind.
When profit goes with vertue, we respect her,So that her very foot-steps we adore:
But if she walke alone, then we neglect her,
And will not wait upon her any more:
So basely 'gainst their consciences, most men
Descend from honour, to attend on gaine.
