Second Entry

Kinge Oceanus enters enrag'd attended by Balena and Physeter with other Sea Monsters for guardes and attendants—speakes
Ocean:
—What bold Attempter seekes to plumme my depth
And make mee turne untill my Braines runne round
Th'unconstant Goddesse must Commannd me still
To shape my Ebbs and floweings to her prime
Her wayne, her full, for humane wights must knowe
Att their Commannds I doe nor Ebb nor flowe.
turnes to them:
Away Physeter fill your fountaine Skonce
That cataract like it sinke whole fleetes att once
And yow Balena that in strength excell
Make all the deckes and keells change paralell
The Porpos Boyes skip about him
Whilest with my Little traine I rest Content
To take some pastime in my Ellement
Exeunt Phy: & Balen:
He strikes the stage with a: Trident. ffrom neath which Come out two Trytons viserded— Sea weed on their heads & in Coats Sea greene, with shell trumpetts in their hands.
Why Tritons howe? Come upp here awake the windes
With your shell Trumpetts, Cause them t'make mee dannce
Soe high and rough a Measure to their Ayre
That I may seeme to quench the fiery Starrs
Yet washe the Center of the Vniuerse.
Lett them my Billowes (otherwise entire)
Against the Rockes dash till they breake and rise
In Cristall sparkes t'enrich the Cristall Skyes
Leaueing to emblem out my wrath belowe
An Angry foame: Then ffleeces of blacke Cloudes
Swoln upp with Vapour; yet not ripe to fall
In raine, soe darken all the Guides that Measure
My Liquid plaine, that neuer more attempt
Be made to ryde ore 't on a wooden horse
Lett not the Sunne when he Comes to my Bed
Draw ore 't a Crimson Curtaine nor beguilde

The fragrant Morneing when from it he rises
But by a weake and faint pale beame dispearse
Abroad the Light from his Hydroppick boddy
Nor Lett his Sister shine but through a Vale
Yet such an Orient Tincture thence discouer
Rubicunda flat:
That euery wynde may sue to be her Louer.
And spend the Lowdest of their breathes uppon her
Lett all the Leauy Consort; with the Breach
O'th'waters play att Checstone on the Beach
Chime in a Storme: Nor Lett my dolphin tye
himselfe in's Course to any Certaintye.
But Cormorants begripe the Craggy shoare
And Hearnes aboue the wayghtyer Cloudes shall Soare
Whilest 'tis the Choughs delight to bath her selfe
But I will Cast a feare uppon this Art
That would discouer through mee euery part
Blowe upp my boyes, I Long to stirre my Ioints
The Tritons sound once and Nothinge appeares
Againe, the windes doe sleepe and not remember
The Halcyon dayes were ended with September

They sound againe—And the Porposes rowle and tumble about Ocean: as he stands upp,—att Last the 4 Windes enter Bloweing And soe take their places att the 4 Corners of the Stage, their Instruments before mencioned—their habbitts Linnen girt to them—Perewiggs of Stareing haire—Iuye wreathes on their heads.
Seaman
from his Corner where he had stood embay'd
It is noe short tyme sithence this Art the Pine
ffirst taught to dannce uppon the swelling Brine
O'th'Oceans Court, yet soe enrag'd before
I neuer Sawe him: Well sithence this feauerish feare
Shakes all my tackle Ile noe Longer staye
his Menaces, nor soe prouoke my fate
A Tempest doeth A Calme prognosticate

Exit Naut:
Ocean
in Triumph
Hee's gone, hee's gone, the tenth waue be his guide
To Stix and Acheron, whilest wee Liue free
Without Encroachments on our Libertye

Turnes to the Musick which playes still
Be still, be still, Our Nimble feete denye
Our Leggs their rest unless yor harmonye
Compos'd of Discords Cease
Musicke ceases
Your Will's obeyd

Then Oceanus retireing to an Artificiall Rocke in forme of A Chaire which was plac'd Diametrically opposite to the Scæne, and on which was Raguaglio D'Oceano written in great Speakes againe to the Trytons as followes.
Ocean:
—Goe Trytons usher in my Sonnes that they
May be instructed in their gouernments
Exeunt Tritons att seuerall dores
I heare that Pontus useth Violence
Sometymes on Archipelag and the Iles
When as fond Aquilo flatters his pride
And ffretum's sullen and denyes to pay
Lucina floud and Ebb. Synus alone
Contented is, yeilding to eache their owne
