LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  • The following resolution was adopted:
    RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Frans R. Bax, Assistant Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for one semester, effective September 1, 1977, to accept a visiting professorship at the University of Chicago.
  • Mr. William F. Beazer, Associate Professor of Economics, one-half time, for one semester, effective September 1, 1977, to complete a book on the economy of Hong Kong.

  • Dr. James L. Camp, III, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, for the period September 16, 1977, through January 15, 1978, for personal reasons.
  • Mr. Edwin S. Cohen, Joseph M. Hartfield Professor of Law, one-half time, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, for educational purposes.
  • Mr. Josue Cruz, Jr., Assistant Professor of Education, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to serve as Visiting Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
  • Miss Jane L. Echols, Assistant Professor of Nursing, three-fourths time, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to enter doctoral program.
  • Mr. Eleftherios N. Economou, Associate Professor of Physics, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to spend the time in Europe.
  • Miss Barbara A. Graham, Assistant Professor of Nursing, two-thirds time, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to enter doctoral program.
  • Mr. Thomas L. Kriete, III, Associate Professor of Mathematics, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to serve as Visiting Professor, Indiana University, in the fall and in Norton, Massachusetts in the spring.
  • Mr. Richard B. Lillich, Howard W. Smith Professor of Law, for one semester, effective September 1, 1977, to serve as Visiting Professor at New York University.
  • Miss Sue McCoy, Assistant Professor of Surgery, for one year, effective September 1, 1977, to attend medical school.
  • Mr. Kenneth R. Mladenka, Assistant Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to accept a visiting appointment at Northwestern University.
  • Mrs. Natalie K. Moyle, Assistant Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to pursue research sponsored by the Social Science Research Council.
  • Mr. Michael H. Prosser, Professor of Speech Communication, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to serve as consultant for the USIA and Visiting Professor at Kent State University.

  • Mr. Leonard Sbrocchi, Assistant Professor of Italian, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to accept a visiting professorship at another university.
  • Mr. Hermann J. H. Schladitz, Research Professor of Engineering and Applied Science, for the period June 1, 1977, through October 31, 1977, to conclude personal business matters in Germany.
  • Mr. Paul S. Shoup, Associate Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to carry out research abroad under the auspices of the Yugoslavia-American Exchange Program.
  • Mr. Mario di Valmarana, Associate Professor of Architecture, two-thirds time, for one semester, effective September 1, 1977, for personal reasons.
  • Mr. Robert L. Vickery, Professor of Architecture, two-thirds time, for one semester, effective September 1, 1977, to work on manuscript of book being prepared for publication.
  • Miss Delba Winthrop, Assistant Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to accept a grant from the American Enterprise Institute, Washington, D. C.
  • Mr. Klaus O. H. Ziock, Professor of Physics, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1977, to spend the year at the University of Karlsruhe.
