KEYNES, John Maynard (1883-1946):

the most influential economist of his time whose revolution in economic theory led to the break with classical economics and the boom following the Second World War with the result that this era is often referred to as the "Keynesian Era." His greatest work is General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money (1936). Keynes placed great stock in the role of ideas in society and believed that ultimately ideas determine events.
