KABR, Kabir (1440-1518):

a forerunner of the SIKHS, he grew up in a MUSLIM home in Banaras to become a prominent religious teacher who began to attack the external differences between Muslims and HINDUS. A disciple of RAMANANDA he opposed the WORSHIP of images and the caste system. He taught that there was only one GOD whom he called both Ram and Allah to emphasize that God transcends human understandings of Him. His disciple NNAK was the main founder of SIKHISM.
