JOAN OF ARC (1412-1431):

known as the "Maid of Orleans." A peasant girl who as a teenager began to experience visions, heavenly voices and PROPHETIC REVELATIONS from various ROMAN CATHOLIC SAINTS. Believing that her mission was to save France, she made several prophecies which brought her to the notice of the King of France. A series of successful military campaigns followed until she was betrayed to the English by the Duke of Burgundy and burnt for HERESY as a WITCH.
