EMBLEME XCV.
When thou for ayd to God dost pray,
To helpe thy selfe thou must assay.
When thou shalt trauell on the tedious way,
To helpe thy selfe thou must assay.
And see thy Asse fall loden in the mire,
First for the helpe of God prepare to pray,
That succours all that do his helpe require;
But in the meane time ceasse not to assay,
With thy owne hands to draw him from the mire.
For he that would the helpe of God attaine,
To helpe himselfe must take a little paine.
