Thus, as the Dame let loose the story
Of all her past, and present glory:
For thus she'd talk, though all alone,
And no ear heard her but her own;
The Doctor wish'd to see the child—
The Babe was brought, the Doctor smil'd;
And thus th'obstetric Galen spoke:
A sage, grave man, who lov'd a joke.
