guaranteed by the Constitution, as
indeed it is, then the allegations of
the sworn...is a patent denial of the
due process and equal treatment
required by law," he concluded.

The effect this ruling has will be
felt across the state. Radford
College is the largest State-supported
women's college in the
country, and William and Mary
accepts only a small quota of
women. These schools have been
cited by the ACLU as being prime
targets of this case. Any precedent
set would be certain to affect the
policies of these schools.

Miss Anderson is not included in
the temporary injunction, but she
will appear as plaintiff with the
other three women at the September
29 hearing.

Although the other three were
named specifically in the first
hearing, only Miss Scott has enrolled
in the College. The University
warned Mrs. Jaffe and Mrs.
Kirstein, both out-of-state residents,
that they would sacrifice
their enrollment fee if they registered
now and later their case was
denied. The two women, therefore,
decided to enroll in the School of
General Studies, while Miss Scott, a
Charlottesville resident, registered
in the College.
