Lacrosse Team Finishes Third

Duquette, Ulman, Mangels Capture A-A Honors

PRINCETON, N.J.–An
inspired South team led by
Virginia lacrosse star Tom
Duquette, and coached by
Virginia mentor Glen Thiel
rallied from a five-point first
quarter deficit to defeat in
overtime a rugged North team
14 to 12 in the annual
North-South Senior all-star
lacrosse game played here at
Palmer Stadium June 9.

Duquette was the key
factor in the South win,
scoring four goals and assisting
in four others. The Duquette
goals accounted for the South
team's second, third and fourth
goals. In addition, he assisted
in the sixth, scored the seventh
and assisted again with the 11th
and 12th goals.

In recognition of these
feats, attackman Duquette was
presented the Jason Stranahan
award as the game's Most
Valuable Player. Last year it
was Virginia middle. Pete
Eldridge who copped this same
award.

About 4,200 lacrosse fans
were on hand to witness this
seesaw battle in which two
other Virginia standouts also
participated: middle Jim
Ulman, who accounted for one
South goal and defenseman
Bruce Mangels.
