Riders Top Harvard, 12-8

The Cavalier polo team took its
second victory in as many starts
Sunday as it fought off a second
half rally by Harvard to win a 12-8
decision.

Harvard fought back from a 9-3
halftime deficit to pull close at
9-7, before goals by Mark Pirrung,
Roger Steele, and Jake Kenworthy
in the final chukka sealed the win.

The Cavaliers got off to a quick
start, as Steele set up two Reid
Graham tap-ins in the early minutes
to spark the squad to a 4-0 first
chukka lead. John Stuart and
Kenworthy got two goals each, and
Mark Pirrung had one in the second
to give the team its big halftime
lead.

Harvard was something of an
unknown for the Cavaliers as this
was the first meeting ever held
between the two teams.

The Cavaliers face their toughest
competition of the fall season this
week when they meet Cornell.
