Johnson
To Start
For Devils
There was good news for
Duke fans and bad news for
Maryland's defense when it was
announced that sophomore
sensation Mark Johnson will
start against the Terrapins
Saturday.
Johnson had been sidelined
all season with an injury, but is
ready to assume the starting
role that he earned in spring
practice. Last week against
Clemson, he saw limited action
but led the Blue Devils to the
game's only score and
compiled 66 yards rushing.
A native of Oxon Hill, Md.
and a former All-Metropolitan
Selection, Johnson is noted
more for his running ability
than his merely adequate arm.
He will team with the ACC's
leading rusher Steve Jones to
try and penetrate Maryland's
swarming defense, which leads
the conference in rushing
defense. Johnson replaces a
freshman starter Hal Spears.
