Cavs, Terps Regroup
As Rains Delay Game

By John Markon
Cavalier Daily Staff Writer

Yesterday's scheduled baseball
game between Virginia and
Maryland at College Park was
postponed and will be played today
on the Terps' field at 3 p.m.

The game means very little to
the Cavaliers with respect to the
final ACC standings as, with a 7-6
record, the best they could do
would be to insure fourth place and
a winning season with a victory.
For Maryland, 9-4 and fighting for
the title with Clemson, a victory is
essential.

Closing the season as he opened
it, Ed Kihm will pitch for the
Wahoos with Maryland expected to
counter with either staff ace Rick
Clee or Mike Chaddick, last seen
here pitching the Terrapins to a 1-0
victory over the Cavaliers in a game
played last Tuesday at Lambeth
Field.

It would be hard to imagine any
major line-up changes by
Virginia for the game, as Coach Jim
West has started more or less the
same eight men since ACC play
began. The only major change
coming after Dave Bratt's pulled
hamstring when West moved Tom
Blackburn into the lineup at first
base.

The Maryland batting order
Kihm will be facing contains top
ACC batsman Dave Sauve, a 400
hitter at second base and other ACC
Top Fivers Harry Martell and Bob
Cilento, starters at rightfield and
third base respectively.

Virginia's competition for the
third spot comes from South
Carolina, now also 7-6, with
Maryland, Clemson and N.C. State
assured of first division status.
