Al Sinesky, next year's
co-captain of the track team and a
defensive end on the football team,
has been named winner of the John
Jay Polzer Memorial Trophy in
honor of the Virginia athlete with
the outstanding overall
performance in sports for the
1968-69 school year. The award is
given annually by the managing
staff of the Cavalier Daily.

Craig Mobley, an outstanding
student-athlete at Chester High
School, has become the first Negro
to sign an athletic grants-in-aid with
Clemson University, according to
athletic director Frank Howard.
Mobley was signed to a basketball
contract by Coach Bobby
Roberts.

The Student Athletic Council
has held its elections for next year's
officers. The new president is Jack
Wilson, a past captain of the
swimming team, and the new
secretary is Mike Sorenson, next
year's captain of the soccer team.
The council has also resolved that
all future complaints levied against
the athletic department will be filed
through the council first.

Six new cheerleaders have been
chosen by this year's cheerleading
squad in the spring tryouts. They
are Roger Herrigel, Henry Bowden,
Hal Bogard, Jeff Podesta, Bobby
Niles, and Howard Wilkinson. Next
year's co-head cheerleaders will be
Hugh Antrim and Andy Walker.
